AIM client for the iPhone: Palringo – Supports multiple services

July 29, 2008

I think 2 or 3 days ago when I reviewed the AIM client, I mentioned that it is a solid client that does not however provide access to multiple services (ie. Gtalk, Yahoo, MSN, ICQ, etc). Instead, I recommended that you may want to try meebo instead.

Well in waltzes Palringo, an iPhone app that claims to let you log into MSN, ICQ, AIM, iChat, Yahoo, GTalk, Gadu-Gadu, and Jabber all at once. Free.

Does it blend  work as promised? Or should you stick with AIM? Read on for the review.

iPhone App Review: AIM

July 26, 2008

AIM on the iPhone

AIM on the iPhone

This entry will kick off the new column: iPhone App Review. Expect regular new reviews of free iPhone apps, so check back often.

We’ll start this column off with a review of an App that I expect will be used by most of you with an iPhone, AIM. There is nothing too surprising when it comes to this app – but does it perform up to par, and what alternatives are there?

UPDATE: After you read this review, head on over to read about AIM tips & tricks. I’ve covered how to use some features that are not immediately apparent, like changing buddy’s nicknames, etc.

UPDATE2: An iPhone IM app called Palringo was released recently, that offers connectivity to multiple services, not just AIM. Should you ditch AIM for Palringo? The answer is NO. Read my review of Palringo to find out why.

Read on for the full review.
